Every minute a scheduled Atomic function takes a burst of samples against this slice's own public URL — out through Caddy and the router and back in, the same path a visitor takes. Availability is computed from gaps in the beat sequence, not from a counter: a prober can only record what it survives, so counting its own failures would report perfect uptime straight through its own death. A minute with no beat is a minute this slice could not serve. Raw JSON at /api/status.
